Russia's Evraz rolls 5% less steel in 2014, and sells more semis
Russian steel, mining and vanadium group, Evraz notes its consolidated crude steel production fell 4% to 15.5 million tonnes in 2014. This was largely because of the disposal in April of Evraz Vitkovice Steel in the Czech Republic and the closure of Evraz Claymont in the USA at the end of 2013. These were both part of the group-wide optimisation plan, which saw output of steel products, net of rerolled volumes, fall by 5% year-on-year to 13.95mt in 2014.
