Earthquake-prone New Zealand launches new code for steel buildings
Steel fabricators in New Zealand are hoping to head off imports of inferior structural steels, as well as promote better practice at home. Their representative body, Steel Construction New Zealand (SCNZ) and the Heavy Engineering Research Association have launched a new steel fabricator certification (SFC) scheme.
