EU stainless mills aim for Q2 price increase
Europe’s stainless producers are hoping they can raise base prices from April, but “the competition will remain fierce”, according to Damstahl in Denmark. This is because of the two additions to the market – Posco Assan, which is ramping up production in Turkey, and Italy’s AST, which is rebuilding its customer base, and plans to produce 80,000-90,000 tonnes next month after its strike action last year (see Kallanish, 13 February).
