Coated coil import duty gives mills chance to compete, says Seifsa
The Steel and Engineering Industries Federation of Southern Africa (Seifsa) has praised the government’s approval of a 10% duty on coated coil imports, saying it will give local mills a chance to compete at a time of weak domestic demand.
South Africa’s trade and industry ministry agreed to the implementation of the tariff based on recommendations from the International Trade Administration Commission of South Africa (see related story).
