Chinese steel demand to fall by 110 million t to 2025
China’s crude steel demand will fall steadily from this year to 650 million tonnes by 2025, 110 million t below current levels, according to Wu Wenzhang, president of Chinese steel consultancy SteelHome. The fall will force some 200 million t/year of steelmaking capacity to close over the coming ten years, he adds.
