Bayi restarts furnace after overhaul
North eastern China’s Bayi Iron and Steel, a subsidiary of Baosteel, has restarted a blast furnace on 15 April after an overhaul. The company has been refining its capacity after being ordered to close two outdated blast furnaces last year, Kallanish notes.
Bayi shut down the furnace on 1 January and completed the renovation in early March. The company did not say why it waited a month to restart the furnace and could not be reached for comment.
