Baosteel commissions COREX in Xinjiang
China’s Baosteel recently began iron making at the COREX unit it had relocated from Shanghai to its Bayi Iron and Steel subsidiary in north-western Xinjiang. The unit has been idled since 2013 as Xinjiang has been trying to reduce capacity, but the plant’s environmental credentials have supported its relaunch, Kallanish notes.
