Baku, Azerbaijan starts up EAF
Azerbaijan’s Baku Steel has commissioned an electric arc furnace (EAF) as part of its project to expand annual steel capacity to around 1.1 million tonnes, says the EAF’s supplier, Siemens Metals Technologies. The German-Austrian company adds that earlier this year Baku commissioned a 50t ladle furnace for its meltshop, which had also been upgraded by the plantmaker.
