Arrium offloads steel wire rope division to Bekaert
Australian steel and mining group Arrium says that it has agreed to sell its steel wire rope manufacturing division to Belgian steel wire specialist Bekaert.
In a stock exchange release monitored by Kallanish, Arrium says that it is selling the business for AUD 90 million ($70.5m). The wire ropes division employs 100 people and specialises in producing high-performance wire ropes, many of which are used in the mining and minerals extraction sector.
