Alfa to invest in Sicily operation but scrap supply issues remain
Italian steelmaker Alfa Acciai will make new investments in its Catania-based facility, Acciaierie di Sicilia, whilst low scrap availability in the region remains a major issue, Kallanish learns from union sources.
The investment of around €3 million ($3.18m) is expected to be focused on the operation’s rolling end and is a positive sign for the troubled company. Alfa has seen its output halved since the 2008 financial crisis.
