Western Australia plans to modernise mining regulation
Western Australia’s Department of Mines, Industry Regulation and Safety (DMIRS) is after industry feedback on proposed changes to the Mining Act 1978 under the Streamlining Bill 2021.
If approved, the amendments should modernise the mining sector regulatory framework, DMIRS says. The bill aims to improve efficiencies for the application and assessment of environmental approvals and support economic recovery following Covid-19, it adds.
