Stellantis’ global sales of low emission vehicles in 2021 stood at 388,000 units, a remarkable increase of 160% on-year. Battery electric van sales were also particularly strong in Europe, the automaker says in its 2021 financial report monitored by Kallanish.

The company vows to continue accelerating its battery electric and hydrogen fuel cell vehicles sales. Last year it had a portfolio of 34 low-emission models.

“Today’s record results prove that Stellantis is well-positioned to deliver strong performance, even in the most uncertain market environments...Together, we are focused on executing our plans as we race to become a sustainable mobility tech company," ceo Carlos Tavares comments.

Last year Stellantis had record results with €13.4 billion ($15.1 billion) net profit and €149.4 billion net revenues. In Europe, revenues were up 5% y-o-y driven by a favourable vehicle mix and higher battery electric vehicle (BEVs) and plug-in hybrid (PHEVs) sales volumes, the company says.

Stellantis unveiled ambitious electrification and software plans last year. The automaker is boosting its vehicle electrification over the next two years with the launch of 11 BEVs and 10 PHEVs. It revealed last year its roadmap towards becoming a software-defined company, targeting around €20 billion in incremental annual revenues by 2030.

In January 2021, France’s Peugeot S.A. (PSA Group) and Italy’s Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) received shareholder approval for the merger of the companies into the new entity Stellantis.
