South Africa to produce first EVs in 2026: minister
South Africa could start producing electric vehicles as early as 2026, according to the country’s trade minister Ebrahim Patel.
The minister on Monday launched a white paper outlining a comprehensive EV roadmap for the country to transition its auto industry from exclusive internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles to a dual platform that includes EVs in the production and consumption mix by 2035.
