SK Innovation to launch new battery unit next month
South Korean conglomerate SK Innovation will launch on 1 October its new spin-off battery business, SK Battery Co, after receiving the green light from shareholders.
The spin-off proposal was approved by 80.2% of the shareholders in a meeting on 16 October. It comes as the company races to gain market share in the global EV battery market, while shifting its approach from “carbon to green,” Kallanish notes.
