Semiconductors to cost global automotive $210 billion: forecast
The global semiconductor shortage will cost the worldwide automotive industry around $210 billion in lost revenues this year, according to the latest forecast of the consulting company AlixPartners.
This is markedly more from its estimate in May of $110 billion, Kallanish notes. In terms of vehicles, the company is now forecasting that production of 7.7 million units will be lost in 2021, up from 3.9m in its May forecast.
