Schnitzer installs battery storage system in Oakland
Longs producer and recycler Schnitzer Steel Industries has picked PowerFlex to install a 1,600-kilowatt, 5,5567 kilowatt-hour fixed battery storage system at its Oakland, California, site, Kallanish reports.
The battery will act as a cost-moderator, charging during low-cost portions of the day and releasing that stored energy during high-cost grid periods.
