Russian court fines Nornickel $2 billion for fuel-spill
The Russian Arbitrazh court of the Krasnoyarsk region ruled that Russian mining company Nornickel should pay RUB 146 billion ($1.95 billion) in compensation for an Arctic fuel spill.
In July 2020, the Federal Service for Supervision of Natural Resources (Rosprirodnadzor), asked Nornickel to pay RUB 148 billion to cover damage caused by the massive spill from one of its fuel tanks.
