OBR halves forecast for UK electric vehicle sales

The UK’s Office for Budget Responsibility (OBR) has downgraded its forecast for the sale of electric vehicles in the country amid higher upfront costs and dropping fuel prices. In its report for the autumn statement, the national forecaster cut its 2027 EV sales forecast to 38% of new car sales, down from the 67% it estimated in March 2023.
