COPPER: Nornickel stops anode copper production at Kola MMC
Russian mining company Nornickel has terminated the production of anode copper at its Kola MMC in the city of Monchegorsk, the company says.
The last bottling of copper anodes was made on 1 March. The day before, the reverberatory furnaces and converters were shut down. The closure of pyrometallurgy will reduce sulfur dioxide emissions by 30,000 tonnes/year.
