NICKEL, COPPER: Congresswoman backs Minnesota mining ban
US Representative Betty McCollum, D-Minnesota, has reintroduced legislation in Congress that would ban nickel-copper mining in the Superior National Forest in Minnesota, Kallanish reports.
The bill would protect 94,8299 hectares of federal land in the national forest to ensure that waters flowing into the federal Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness are not polluted by mining, McCollum says.
