NICKEL, COPPER: Minnesota eyes mining moratorium, possible ban
Minnesota legislators on Wednesday introduced the so-called “Prove It First” legislation, which could kill nickel-copper mining across the state, Kallanish reports.
In addition, mining could be permanently banned near the sprawling Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness (BWCAW) close to Ely in northeast Minnesota, under proposed state and federal legislation that will be introduced soon.
