Mexico considers open-pit mining ban
A proposed ban on open-pit mining is advancing in Mexico after a committee in the lower house of the Mexican Congress approved a constitutional reform last week.
The potential bill prohibits concessions “except in exceptional cases determined by the Federal Executive,” as well as preventing concessions for the use of water in areas “with low availability in quantity and quality.”
