Mercedes nixes further plug-in hybrid development
Mercedes-Benz is cutting the cord on its plug-in hybrid development to focus exclusively on battery-electric vehicles, the company’s head of development said last week at an auto show in Germany.
Markus Schäfer told Handelsblatt on the sidelines of the IAA Mobility conference that the company’s extant plug-in technology will still be used for some new vehicle models, but research and development priorities have shifted to all-electric.
