NY launches pilot to boost battery safety
The New York Power Authority (NYPA) is kicking off a $3 million pilot project to show that lithium-ion batteries can be safely deployed in highly developed urban areas and are not a fire risk, Kallanish reports.
The agency has installed what has been called a fireproof Supercell lithium-battery energy storage system developed by Connecticut-based Cadenza Innovation at the authority’s offices in White Plains, New York.
