LITHIUM: Agency must issue endangered species decision on Nevada wildflower
A federal judge has ordered the US Fish and Wildlife Service to determine within 30 days if a rare wildflower in Nevada where a lithium-boron mine is planned should be protected under the federal Endangered Species Act, Kallanish reports.
The order from US District Judge James Mahan says the dire situation of the Tiehm’s buckwheat qualifies as an “emergency posing a significant risk to the well being” to the plant.
