Leclanche to provide lithium-ion batteries for CP hydrogen locomotive
Swiss-based Leclanche SA says it will provide its proprietary batteries and energy-management software to the Canadian Pacific for the railroad’s pioneering hydrogen locomotive program, Kallanish reports.
The project calls for retrofitting a line-haul diesel freight locomotive with hydrogen fuel cells and Leclanche’s lithium-ion batteries to power the locomotive’s electric traction motors. Such a locomotive would be a first in North America. The …
