Japanese oil company to enter EV market this year
Japan’s oil refiner Idemitsu Kosan is planning to manufacture and sell ultra-compact electric vehicles at its 6,400 gas stations, the Nikkei newspaper reported on Sunday.
According to the report, which didn’t cite sources, this will be enabled through a joint venture with race-car manufacturer Tajima Motor. The planned four-passenger vehicle would have a range of 100 kilometres and reach a maximum speed of 60 km/hour, Kallanish understands.
