Italian authorities accelerate hydrogen railway conversion
The H2iseO project carried out by Italian FNM and state railway operator Trenord will see a total investment of approximately €300 million ($356m), says director of FNM and ceo of Trenord Marco Piuri at a hearing at the Italian parliament Camera Dei Deputati seen by Kallanish.
H2iseO will replace fuel fossil trains with hydrogen trains that will be operative from 2023 on the line Brescia-Iseo-Edolo, a 103 kilometres line in Val Camonica, Northern Italy.
