India mulls opening lithium mining to private investment: report
Private domestic and international investors may soon be able to explore for lithium reserves in India, as the government reportedly seeks to amend existing regulation.
Citing unnamed sources familiar with the plans, Bloomberg reported Prime Minister Narenda Modi wants lawmakers to approve the removal of lithium and other seven minerals from a restricted mining list. Currently, only state-owned companies can mine for such minerals.
