Hertz orders 100,000 Teslas for rental network
Car rental firm Hertz has placed a massive order with Tesla - 100,000 vehicles by the end of next year, Kallanish learns from a company release.
The order value was not released, but it is likely to be in the billions, given the average price of Tesla’s vehicle line-up.
"Electric vehicles are now mainstream, and we've only just begun to see rising global demand and interest," says Hertz interim ceo Mark Fields. "The new Hertz is going to lead the way as a mobility company, starting with the largest EV rental fleet in North America and a commitment to grow our EV fleet and provide the best rental and recharging experience for leisure and business customers around the world."
Hertz customers will be able to rent Tesla Model 3 vehicles beginning in early November. In conjunction with the buy, Hertz is installing “thousands” of chargers at its locations. Customers renting a Tesla can also use the Tesla supercharging network, which consists of about 3,000 locations in the US and Europe.
