GM constructs new battery innovation centre
US auto producer General Motors plans to build a battery development centre to speed innovation and bring down costs in Warren, Michigan, Kallanish learns from a company statement.
The so-called Wallace Center - named after GM director Bill Wallace, who spearheaded the company’s electrification efforts and died in 2018 - is slated for completion in mid-2022. Prototype cells will be manufactured there by the end of 2022, GM says.
