EU prioritises green hydrogen, but will use blue: IGU
The European Commission (EC) wants to prioritise green hydrogen production using mostly wind and solar. But it acknowledges that there is a considerable cost gap to overcome between so-called green and blue hydrogen, the International Gas Union (IGU) tells Kallanish.
Blue hydrogen costs only €2 ($2.4)/kilogram, according to the International Energy Agency, while renewable hydrogen costs vary between €2.5-5.5/kg.
