DOE research says fluorenone could replace vanadium in flow battery systems
A compound commonly found in candles could boost grid-scale energy storage instead of vanadium, according to researchers at the US Department of Energy’s Pacific Northwest National Laboratory.
Common organic fluorenone, a bright yellow powder, holds promise for storing grid energy in redox flow battery systems, the researchers say in a report published in the 21 May issue of the journal Science, Kallanish reports.
