Climate change endangers copper, cobalt, lithium production: PwC
Most production of copper, cobalt and lithium is at risk from the effects of climate change, new research by PwC finds.
Over 70% of the three metals’ output could face significant or higher drought risk by 2050 if global emissions are not drastically reduced, compared to less than 10% today. This is exacerbated by the high concentration of commodities to a small number of countries, and a limited set of locations within those countries.
