China's EV battery production growth slows 84% in 2023
China’s electric vehicle lithium battery production increased 23.65% in 2023 to 675 gigawatt-hours, according to data recently released by the country’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT).
The growth performance is much lower than in 2022, when 545.9 GWh power lithium batteries were produced in China, reflecting a 148.5% annual growth. Last year’s production volume shows the growth momentum plummeted 84%, Kallanish notes.
