China is expected to become Mercedes-Benz's strategic sales centre for electric vehicles from 2025, Kallanish learns.

During a recent interview conducted by German magazine Automobilwoche, Mercedes-Benz chairman Ola Kaellenius told the media that China has become the most important market for Mercedes-Benz, and will continue to be in the future.

He said: "To achieve this goal, we must master electric power technology and digital technology, which are what our customers expect."

Mercedes-Benz hopes to attract more customers in China with the launch of new models, such as the battery electric versions of C-Class and GLC.

Meanwhile, Ola Kaellenius denied the company's intention to cut prices, stating that new EV models will be appealing for customers even at relatively high prices.

Starting from 2025, all new vehicle platforms of Benz will support EV drives only. This target was set by the German luxury automaker back in 2021.
