NICKEL: China continues to lift nickel ore imports
Chinese nickel ore imports rose 31.33% on-month to 4.84 million tonnes in June, continuing the steady growth seen in the previous first five months. On an annual comparison, however, volumes increased by 38.05%, which is much lower than the rise of 118.85% registered in May, Kallanish notes.
Total nickel imports in the first half of 2021 rose 32.9% y-o-y to 16.48m t, but volumes were still lower than the import levels in H1 2019.
