California utility to add 535 MW of battery storage at 3 sites
Electric utility Southern California Edison will add 535 megawatts/2,150 megawatt-hours of battery storage in order to increase grid reliability next summer, Kallanish reports.
The battery storage will be located at three existing SCE substations in the San Joaquin Valley, Rancho Cucamonga and Long Beach areas. The facilities will be built for the utility by Ameresco Inc and should be operational by August 2022.
