California awards $4m for hydrogen switcher locomotive
The California Energy Commission is awarding nearly $4 million to the Sierra Northern Railway and GTI to fund the design, integration and testing of a hydrogen fuel cell switching locomotive, Kallanish reports.
The project is designed to show the potential of hydrogen fuel cell technology to reduce air pollution and greenhouse gas emissions from transportation.
