BHP averts strike in Chilean copper mine
BHP has averted a strike at the Spence copper mine in Chile after reaching an agreement with the union.
In a ballot, 93% of union members voted in favour of a contract proposal, compared to 7% who voted in favour of a strike, according to local media.
The three-year collective agreement provides "new benefits and substantial improvements," a spokesperson for Spence says. It is replacing a previous contract that expired on 31 May, Kallanish learns.
