Basf starts testing sodium-sulphur battery storage in Belgium
Japan’s NGK Insulators said on 20 October the first sodium-sulphur energy storage system (ESS) supplied to Basf under their cooperation agreement started operations in September, Kallanish reports.
The so-called NAS batteries have a maximum 1,000 kilowatt-DC power and 5,800 kilowatt-hour-DC dischargeable energy. The ESS ordered by Basf New Business (BNB) consists of four sets of containerised batteries.
