Anglo American’s copper production falls 6% in Q2

London-based mining company Anglo American has reported a 6% year-on-year drop in its copper production during the second quarter ended 30 June 2024. It produced 196,000 t of the red metal during the period, compared to 209,000 t produced in Q2 2023. The decline was attributed to the lower throughput at Los Bronces and El Soldado mines in Chile, and the planned lower grades at Quellaveco copper mine in Peru.
