COPPER: Ames Copper contracts SMS for copper anode plant
SMS will supply a secondary copper smelter to Ames Copper Group. This will produce up to 50,000 tonnes/year of copper anodes, with start-up scheduled in 2021, Kallanish notes.
US-based Ames Copper is a joint venture between Prime Materials Recovery Inc. and Cunext Group.
The new plant will be the first secondary copper recycling facility in the US to produce copper anodes from copper scrap and copper fines, SMS claims.
