Nghiem Xuan Da holds a Bachelor degree in Industrial Economy Mines from Moscow State Mining University and MSC in Finance from University of London and a Bachelor of Law from Hanoi Law University. Nghiem Xuan Da is the President of Vietnam Steel Corporation and Chairman of Vietnam Steel Association (VSA). Prior to this, he has held the positions of Chairman, CEO, Vice-President, Chief Accountant and Director of Accounting at Vietnam Steel Corporation.    

Jiang Li has been the Chief Analyst at Baosteel since 2009, with over 30 years of experience in the steel industry. She has worked as a visiting analyst and fellow with organisations such as the World Steel Association, CISA, and World Steel Dynamics. Since 2020, she has been the Chief Analyst at CISA and has been an active member of ECON of World Steel Association since 2007.

Mr. Sanjay Singh is the Director of Strategy and External Relations at Jindal Steel & Power, with over 36 years of experience in Policy, Management, Administration, Project Implementation, and Strategic Planning. He has served as a civil servant of Indian Administrative Service at the Central and State Governments, where he held leadership roles in sectors including Steel, Telecommunications, Research Management, Human Resource Development, and Information Technology. As Secretary in Government of India in the Ministry of Steel, he contributed to the formulation and implementation of a long-term vision for the sector, focusing on sustainability and the adoption of Industry 4.0. In Telecommunications, he played a key role in the successful rollout of BharatNet, a project to provide rural broadband connectivity, connecting 2.5 lakh Gram Panchayats across India.

Martin graduated from Imperial College, London with a degree in Process Metallurgy in 1987.  An initial engagement with the steel industry started with British Steel Teesside both before and during study.  This was followed by employment with the then Davy McKee Iron and Steel group, with a focus on iron and steelmaking related technologies.  Following overseas secondments to many of the world's most famous iron and steel makers for commissioning and troubleshooting type roles, Martin was promoted to become Manager of Process Engineering and then to Head of Blast Furnace Technology whilst the company transformed through various guises to be the Primetals that is now a leader in the iron and steel technology supplier market.  In 2017, Martin took a long-term secondment to work in Asia for business development for the blast furnace business.  This has now been followed with a permanent transfer to the Primetals Taiwan office, with a responsibility for business development over iron and steel technologies in the Asia region.  Decarbonisation is a natural and logical key area of this business development.  Martin is a Fellow of the Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining, a member of its Iron and Steel Division subcommittee and a nominated reviewer of papers for the Ironmaking and Steelmaking journal.

Sabyasachi is an engineering graduate from the prestigious Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) and holds an MBA in International Business from the Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT) in New Delhi. With 29 years of international business experience, Mr. Mishra has worked across various industries and lived in many Asian countries, including India and Indonesia. Based in Singapore for the last 22 years, he has led trading desks in the minerals and metals sectors. He is currently the Business Head for JSW International Tradecorp (JITPL), the flagship trading arm of the JSW Group, a conglomerate with a significant presence in the steel, energy, cement, and infrastructure sectors. JITPL primarily trades in steel, energy, Cementitious raw materials, including iron ore, coal, and steel Scrap.

With a Master in Accountancy and Finance (MAF) degree, Jérôme started by coincidence in steel trading already in 1995. Through several mergers and consolidations within the trading community in Antwerp, he worked 10 years on the Central American markets, moved for 10 years to run the African operations and then ran the European markets.  After evolving from trader to commercial director of the Americas and then Africa, he has moved in his trading career as Group Commercial Director. A strong believer in the back-to-back trading model as followed within Steelforce. Starting in 2024, he took the lead of the Steelforce Group as CEO and has been a member of the board since 2011.

Jiao Yong, Executive Deputy General Manager of the International Business Division in China Risun Group Limited, holds a master's degree in English Language and Literature from Beijing Institute of Technology. Since joining China Risun Group at the end of 2007, Jiao has steadily progressed from an administrative commissioner to Deputy Manager of the Group's Operations Management Department, then serving as Manager of the Coke Import and Export Department and Chemical Import and Export Department, and ultimately becoming Deputy General Manager of the Coke Business Department. Currently, Jiao Yong is responsible for overall sales operations and coke import-export affairs in China's East and South regions, as well as sales in the Indonesian coking plant.

Born in Treviso, Italy, Nicola Patrizi has a master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, with a specialization in Metallurgy. He joined Danieli Group in Italy in 2007, working in the Project Management department for the flat steel products business unit. Under the same division, in 2010 he was appointed manager for projects in the SEA region, and moved to Danieli Co., Ltd, in Thailand. In 2018, he transferred to Danieli’s branch office in Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam, to oversee the project management for all product divisions in Southeast Asia. Since 2019, he holds the role of Managing Director of Danieli Vietnam, with direct responsibility on the company’s business in the region, and in 2022 he was promoted to oversee the sales of the Group in Oceania too.

Mr. Susanta Ghosh has been appointed as the Chief Operating Officer and BU Green Steel at ACME Group, from October 2024. With a stellar career spanning over three decades, Mr. Ghosh brings a wealth of expertise in the iron and steel industry, focusing on sustainable innovations like green steel and hydrogen-based processes. His role at ACME involves spearheading a Green Steel project leveraging captive green hydrogen, solar energy, and advanced production technologies. The initiative aims to produce green metals with significantly reduced CO2 emissions, contributing to the industry’s decarbonization efforts. Before joining ACME Group, Mr. Ghosh held leadership roles at global organizations, including Powerworx Steel, Emirates Steel Arkan, Ispat Industries Ltd., Tata Steel and Mega Steel (Lion’s group) in Malaysia. His career highlights include leading multi-million-tonne greenfield projects, developing CO2-friendly products, and driving operational transformations and digitization to enhance steel business profitability. He drives Iron and Steel Business from Agglomeration to Finish products including coated steel He specializes in Flat products including Electrical Steel and setting up mega projects, Mr. Ghosh is well-positioned to steer ACME Group’s green steel endeavours toward global success and leading the ongoing Hydrogen/NG DRI based steel projects in Oman and India.

An alumnus of the Indian Institute of Foreign Trade in New Delhi, Abhijeet Mahanta has been actively involved in international scrap trade for nearly three decades. Across Asia, Europe, and Africa, he has worked with some of the largest names in the global recycling industry. Widely travelled and recognized for his extensive domain knowledge, he has also provided valuable insights to various industry bodies from time to time. In his current role as co-founder of Zurich-based Stelaris Resources AG, Abhijeet focuses closely on sourcing quality scrap metal for numerous steelmakers throughout the Indian Subcontinent and Southeast Asia. Abhijeet Mahanta holds a Master's degree in International Business from the Indian Institute of Foreign Trade.

Gorkem received his master's degree in Management of Business Administration in 2002 from La Salle University, Philadelphia, USA. He started his career in the US, working in multinational companies such as Saint Gobain. Later, he went on to work in the stock market fortune 500 company SEI Investments as a mutual fund trader in the US. In 2005, he took a challenge in the steel industry and started to work for steel producers as an executive for export markets. Then, he was appointed as a director of the steel desk of LN metals, a commodity trading company in London. In 2012, Gorkem founded Galex Steel International -- a trading house mainly focused on flat steel products and exports to Europe, Turkey, South America, Middle East and Far East. Galex represents reputable government and private mills from China, India and Turkey on regional or project basis. The company covers global markets through its offices in Turkey, China, India and Russia.

Derek Langston has worked for two of the largest shipbrokers in the world in a career spanning more than 20 years, and was appointed Global Head of Dry Cargo Research at Braemar in 2023. Previously, Derek was Head of Research at SSY from 2019 to 2023. Derek has been engaged for shipping research and consultancy work by a diverse client base including shipowners, operators, trading houses, utilities, mining companies, agricultural producers, government departments, banks and investment funds.  

Edric joined the LME in 2014 and is based in our Singapore office, where he is Head of Corporate Sales in Asia. He has many years of experience in commodity price risk management. Previously, he worked at Mizuho Bank and was responsible for marketing commodity derivatives and advising hedging strategies to corporate customers. Prior to that, he worked for a world-renowned airline, managing their jet fuel risk book. Edric delivers our bespoke training courses in the Asia-Pacific region.

Virgilio earned a Bachelor's in Global Business from Tecnológico de Monterrey, advanced marketing from Northwestern-Kellogg, and an MBA from Universidad de Chile. He has been married to Ana for 26 years and has three children. He began his career in 1995 as a Sales Representative at Procter & Gamble and joined Altos Hornos de Mexico (AHMSA) in 1996, holding various roles in International Operations across Mexico and the US. In 1997, he became Sales Manager for AHMSA in Santiago, Chile, overseeing sales in Chile, Argentina, Brazil, Peru, and Bolivia. By 2000, he was with Ferrostaal Inc.'s steel trading division and later became Commercial Manager for Castle Metals in Mexico. In 2005, he founded Pro Trucks S.A., a logistics firm for heavy cargo movement on Mexico's highways and ports. In 2012, he joined Ryerson Metals Inc., a $5.8 billion company, where he led Commercial, Procurement, Operations, and Quality, driving growth in Mexico and overseeing two plants' operations and P&L for the next decade. In 2024, he became Director of Trading at XSteel USA, managing commercial activities across the Americas and sourcing from North America, Asia, and Europe. In 2025, he founded AVA Steel S de RL de CV, focusing on trading steel products in Mexico, affiliated with XSteel USA.

CM Verma has more than 30 years of experience in the steel industry. In his most recent role, he was Chief of Projects for Tata Steel in India. Prior to that, he held executive and senior management roles, including P&L responsibility at Natsteel and Tata Steel in Thailand. CM Verma has solid experience in international work environments and a degree in mechanical engineering.

Hu Hongsheng is Director of Scrap Department at Fubao Information Company, Head of Fubao Scrap Research Team and Scrap Data Products. Hu Hongsheng has been engaged in bulk commodity and scrap industry research for more than ten years.

Philip grew up in the scrap industry working as a laborer at the Luntz Iron and Steel plant next to Timken steel in Canton, Ohio. After graduating university, for 15 years Hoffman worked for both Hugo Neu Corporation and Derichebourg Recycling where he traded ferrous scrap throughout the gulf coast, mills on the Mississippi river and in bulk internationally. In 2005 he became a lawyer receiving his Juris Doctor in both maritime and international trade law from the University of Queensland, Australia. In 2008 he started Hoffman Iron and Steel trading containerized scrap from the US west coast to Asia and also supplying bulk cargos to one of Turkey’s largest steel mills. In 2015 Hoffman foresaw that Vietnam was going to rapidly expand its steel-making capacity and in 2016 Hoffman opened a trading office in Ho Chi Minh City while at the same time he personally lived at and consulted for Gunung Garuda Steel one of Indonesia’s largest steel mills. In 2020 Philip opened a scrap operation in Indonesia to service domestic steel mills and non-ferrous smelters to supplement Hoffman’s imported scrap to Indonesia. Philip continues to work with suppliers and consumers to trade scrap throughout the Pacific Rim.  

Munif was born and raised in Karachi, Pakistan. He holds qualifications as a textile engineer and an MBA in marketing. Munif began his career in shipping, serving various shipping lines for about nine years in business development. In February 2018, his family established Khatib Sons International (KSI) in Karachi. The company's primary business involves sourcing ferrous scrap, including shredded scrap, HMS, NTP, and fabrication, as well as non-ferrous scrap, Aluminium ingots, ferro alloys, and carbon anodes and cathodes. Munif serves as a sourcing agent for many steel melters in Pakistan, effectively connecting buyers in Pakistan with suppliers, scrap yards, and scrap recyclers located in the UAE, Europe, the UK, South Africa, and the USA.

Nitin Gupta, CEO and Director of R.L. Steels & Energy Ltd is a visionary leader with a passion for excellence and innovation. Under his leadership, the company transformed from a conventional steel manufacturer into a global leader in alloy steel production, expanding to over 30 countries. Tung Nguyen, a senior associate at BakerHostetler in Washington DC, focuses his practice on international trade, drawing on considerable experience advising and representing foreign governments and companies in U.S. antidumping and countervailing duty proceedings, as well as safeguards (Section 201) and national security (Section 232) duty proceedings, before the U.S. Department of Commerce and the U.S. International Trade Commission. He also advises clients on a variety of customs compliance and trade policy issues. Tung regularly appears before the U.S. Court of International Trade, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit and NAFTA/USMCA panels to litigate international trade issues on behalf of his clients.

Harold Quek, Vice President of Business Development at Meranti Green Steel (MGS), has over 30 years of senior leadership experience in the steel industry. Harold previously served as the President of BHP Steel Asia, where he was responsible for all of BHP Steel’s exports of flat and long products to Southeast Asia and South Asia. He also held the position of Regional Vice President at NS BlueScope Steel, overseeing strategic sourcing, including sales and operations planning. Before joining MGS, he was a strategic advisor for JFE Meranti Myanmar. Harold holds an MA in Marketing Management from Macquarie Business School in Sydney.

Mr. Vinod Bane specialises in international steel trading, covering semis, flat, and long products. With 20 years of collective experience in market analysis, and an extensive global network, he has built a proven business model backed by strong industry connections. He is also the Secretary of the Steel Users Federation of India (SUFI), an organisation dedicated to representing the interests of steel users across India. Vicky A. Mathur, born in 1990, is a seasoned professional in international trade and procurement within the steel industry. With an MBA in International Business and expertise in Chinese business culture, he has held leadership roles across prominent organisations. Currently, General Manager at PT Ispat Group, an ArcelorMittal associate, oversees raw material procurement and exports for Indonesia's steel sector. Known for pioneering $150M+ business initiatives, optimising global supply chains, and achieving industry-first milestones, Vicky combines strategic vision with operational excellence, driving growth and innovation in competitive markets.

Suhita is the India steel markets reporter at Kallanish and joined the team in January 2024. She is a former financial journalist and research analyst, with over 10 years of experience across various sectors (including energy and financial services) and regions (US, UK and India). She has an interest in sustainability and is keen to be at the forefront of covering India’s transition to a low carbon future. 

Aditi is a seasoned Steel Raw Materials and Coal Market Reporter, uncovering critical insights for the Indian market.
