Turkey's scrap imports recover in May
Following their two-month decline, Turkish scrap imports recovered in May. They rose by 4.5% year-on-year to 1.809 million tonnes, according to Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK) data monitored by Kallanish. They were also up from 1.519mt in April.
Over 99%, or 1.804mt of May imports were obsolete scrap. The average price of this scrap was $413.5/tonne, down from $451/t in May 2023 and $436/t in April.
