China’s Guangxi Chiji Iron & Steel (Chiji Steel) plans to build 14 hot-dip galvanising units for section steel, each with 100,000 tonnes/year of capacity, Kallanish notes. This will amount to 700,000 t/y of galvanised angles and 700,000 t/y of galvanised channels.

Among the 14 units, 13 are designed for small-sized products, including 11 manual production lines with semi-automatic galvanising machine installation conditions, and two semi-automatic production lines. The last line is scheduled to produce medium- and large-sized product.

Chiji Steel’s hot rolling plant in the same works will supply channels and angles in a length of 6 metres for the galvanising units.

The company is also constructing a coking project in the same area, which will have 3 million t/y of coke capacity.
