Brazil’s April pig iron market weakens, prices stable
Brazilian pig iron production and exports decreased month-on-month in April, Kallanish notes.
According to data from the local steelmakers’ association Instituto Aço Brasil (IAB), April’s pig iron output was 2.09 million tonnes, a decline of 136,000t or 6.1% m-o-m. This volume was 2.4% weaker year-on-year, IAB data show. Four-month production amounted to 8.57mt or 0.4% greater y-o-y.
